Kennebunk Savings is supporting the Great Works Regional Land Trust’s (GWRLT) capital campaign with a $25,000 donation. The “Woods to Waters” campaign is dedicated to the purchase and restoration of two properties – one is situated on top of Bauneg Beg Mountain in North Berwick, and the other sits along the Salmon Falls River in South Berwick. These two land acquisitions total over 150 acres. “We’re taking on our two biggest projects in the history of the organization,” observed Great Works Executive Director Jordan Kelley.

Since 1986, GWRLT has protected over 7,000 acres. They operate 20 preserves open to the public, featuring 35 miles of trails. The Trust also offers programming and educational opportunities at no cost to the community. Their motto is “For everyone, forever.” These latest preservation projects are of critical environmental concern – protecting vital wildlife nesting areas and preserving the health of the watershed.

“I’m proud that Kennebunk Savings has worked for many years to not only serve and support the North Berwick and South Berwick communities, but also to preserve their beautiful, wild spaces.” said the Bank’s CEO Bradford Paige “It is possible to strike that balance when we work at it. Especially with the help of dedicated environmental stewards like the Great Works Regional Land Trust.”

The trust is holding a film festival in support of their accessibility efforts on Sept. 22, from 4-8 p.m. at the Leavitt Theater in Ogunquit. Funds raised from the event will support the creation of an ADA-Accessible trail at the Old Boston Preserve in Ogunquit. Tickets can be purchased here.
